[Anyone nearby House 36 will see Jenny sitting on the steps. She's soaking wet, and she's got her combat boots off and sitting beside her while she wrings the water out of her long hair.

She sighs slightly before she starts mumbling to herself.]

I'll have to find some new shoes until my boots dry...

[She unties her ponytail, allowing her wet hair to fall loose around her shoulders for once, knowing it would dry faster this way.]

[Shinpachi's wandering around, enjoying the festivities. He tries to hide a snicker when he sees the soaked girl and grins lazily to himself.]

Looks like you forgot your umbrella.

[She puts on smile when she sees him, though it's not as bright as is usual for her.]

More like I let my guard down.

[He shrugs his shoulders.]

Well, I'd offer mine, but I don't think it'd make a lot of difference, huh? Or was it not the rain?

No, it wasn't the rain. I kind of fell into the river.

[Well, that got his attention.] How the hell did that happen?

I fell in when an old tree fell nearby. The ground was already slippery from the mud, so the sudden vibration and surprise just made me slip in.

[She sighs]

Guess that's what I get for letting my guard down for only a moment.

[2ndunitcaptain]

Yeah, it only takes a second, you know. [He shrugs his small shoulders again. That was something he learned early.] It'd probably be best if you change, you know. You'll get pneumonia.

[She kinda laughs at the concept of getting pneumonia.]

It's not that easy for me to get sick.

Better to be safe than sorry, or whatever that cliche was, right?

[She shrugs.]

I suppose.

[She wrings out more water from her wet hair, not wanting to track the water into the house.]

Besides, you'll be more comfortable at the festival dry.

Even if I get changed, I won't be headed to the festival. I've got other things I need to do.

I think this is a good time for everyone to take a little break, though.

[She's thinking things over, and it's obvious that she does want to go to the festival.]

Well, maybe I could go to the festival for a little bit. I'd actually really like to watch the tournament.

[She gets up and opens the door. Her really bright smile is back on her face.]

I guess I'll get changed and be right back. Willing to wait a couple minutes?

You could say you're collecting information on the villager's abilities to fight, if it makes you feel less guilty.

[He winks lazily at her and sets his umbrella on his shoulder.]

Sure, I can wait. I'm not in too much of a rush.

[She has fun no matter what she does, so it hardly bothers her. She heads inside, and a couple minutes later, comes out with an entirely new, dry outfit. It's a definite change compared to the combat outfit she usually wears.

She's put on a pair of tight black leather pants, and a red, spaghetti strap tank top that shows off her belly-button. Though it's still wet, she's got her hair brushed and pulled back into another one of her ponytails.

After exiting the house and closing the door, she pulls on a small black jacket that matches her pants, leaving the front open so the tank top could still be seen. She's got her usual bright smile on as she starts slipping her wet combat boots back on.]

I'll have to get some new boots at one of the shops.

[2ndunitcaptain]

[He makes absolutely no comment or facial change on the outfit. He'd been smacked upside the head and yelled at enough in the past 28 years to know how to hold his tongue. He just taps the umbrella on his shoulder.]

We can stop on the way, then.

[Even if he made a comment, Jenny probably would have let it go.]

Huh? Yeah. I keep forgetting, it's not Kyoto here, so I won't get punished. Shinpachi Nagakura. What about you?

[There goes one of her brightest smiles.]

Well. [He grins slightly and holds up the umbrella so they both can be caught under it.] Now that the formalities are out of the way, let's go.

[If Jenny were a normal girl, she might actually accept shelter under that umbrella, but she loves nature way too much to do that, so she'll just be walking next to him, and starting conversations.]

Hey Shinpachi, what's your world like?

Really old, apparently, according to that Haruki kid. Kyoto, Japan. It's a pretty nice place, though, I like it. It's not too different from this place, in basics. There's a lot more people, though, and a port. The architecture is different, too.
