Stars going out is never a very good thing.

Well, yeah. I'm wondering how they managed to do it though. No moon, no stars, nothing. It's just pitch black.

It's not going to be easy for me to get back to the house.

Well, there's a number of possibilities. First is that that barrier they've got up around us can become opaque. Second is that this place isn't real at all, but some kind of artificial environment. And the third, well... the third's that they actually did put out the sun somehow, which means we'll be turning to popsicles in another hour or two.

I'm really hoping it's not the third.

Only time I've seen something like this is when the TARDIS dragged us off to the end of the universe and all the stars had burned up.

It could be but this just sucks! I can't see a thing without a lantern nearby!

Considering the stars and moon are gone too, it's very unlikely to be the third, but you have to list everything when you're brainstorming.

And other causes of star-vanishing are generally just as unpleasant.

I kinda figured. A friend of mine has brought over some candles.

If something like this happened back home it would be horrid. I wonder what their point is with this one.

I've got a lantern with me now, but I'm mostly getting around based on my memory of the place.

I'm not sure, but I'm going to try and help anyone who's still out there.

Are you at your apartment?

Well, that's true I suppose.

I'll probably be out for a while. I'm helping people get some lanterns.

You must have an excellent memory if you know where everything is!

Never really though about that. I suppose I do.

Your dad's letting you go out there on your own?

Yeah, I am.

I wouldn't exactly say he let me. I was already out here when it got dark.

Would it be alright if I stopped by for a bit? I'm closer to your place then my house right now.

Ah. Well be careful. He'll probably go out looking for you if you stay out there too late.

Sure, if you'd like.

I already let him know I'd be out here for a bit. Don't think he'll worry too much as long as I stay in touch.

Fantastic! Let me just drop off this last lantern and then I'll be on my way there.

Alright then, Jenny, I'll see you in a bit.

[The door to Rose's apartment is open as she stands nearby with a candle. It's not the type of light that she would like like but it's better than nothing. She waits patiently for Jenny.]

[It took Jenny about 15 minutes to drop off her last lantern and make it to Rose. She was carrying two bright lanterns as she entered Rose's apartment with her usual cheery smile.]

Hello Rose! I've brought a lantern for you. I bet it'd work better then that candle.

[Rose smiled back, grateful for the lantern and to see Jenny. She blew out the candle and reached for one of the lantern. The room was a bit brighter now.]

Jenny, hello! Oh this is much better.

[She turned around, leading the girl further inside.]

So, you're living with Jack and the Doctor now?

[Jenny followed after Rose.]

Yeah, but I don't like being the only girl in the house.

[She headed into the kitchen then glanced back at Jenny.]

Oh? Why's that? They're not making you do all the chores are they?

No, they're not. But dad tried to give me "the talk" the other day. That was a bit...embarrassing. Plus, I think he's been a bit on edge since Jack started living with us.

Ah, the talk.

[She shook her head.]

I can imagine. Oh? Well that doesn't surprise me. I mean it's Jack!

{And then she laughed.]

I don't know him as well as you and dad do. I've only just met him. But he's a bit odd from what I've seen. Shouldn't a captain take things more seriously?

Yes a captain should but he's not really a captain, Jenny.

[Jenny looks at her confused.]

I don't understand. Then why does he have the title.

I don't know, really. Um, he's a Time Agent. Did your dad tell you about that?

Not really. Dad hasn't really told me anything at all about him.

Oh it's quite the story. When we first met him, he was trying to con us into buying some ship that wasn't even his!

[She laughed a little at the memory.]

A ship? That wasn't even his? So he was a con man.

[Her voice rang with curiosity now.]

[Rose gave a nod.]

Yeah, he was, but then he became a hero in the end. Well at least the last time that I saw him.

How does a con man become a hero?

[She stared out, pensively for a moment.]

By staying on to fight the Daleks instead of running away that day on Satellite Five. It was all your father's doing really. He has that effect on people.

Well except that one time...but that doesn't count.

Yeah, I've noticed. He kind of had that effect on me too.

Yeah he does that a lot.

[She smiled.]

So, you were saying about you not wanting to be the only girl in the apartment? Are you sure it's okay with them?

Come live with us Rose! That way I'm not the only girl in the house anymore, and I know those two don't mind.

Well.

[She gave it a though pausing for a second.]

Um, alright. If you really want me to.

[Jenny puts on one of her brightest smiles and Rose gets a big hug.]

Thank you, thank you thank you!!! You're the best, Rose!

[Rose smiles back hugging the girl though still a little unsure about her decision but deciding to stick to it for the young girl's sake.]

You're welcome, Jenny. I could teach you how to cook some Earth food.

I'd love that!

Great then. It's settled! I'll move in as soon as possible.

Fantastic! Maybe once this darkness clears up?

[She nodded.]

Sure, that'd be great.

Alright, I better be heading back now. You going to be alright here by yourself?

Yeah, I'll be fine.

[She smiled reassuringly.]

Go on back to your dad. I'm sure he misses you.

[Rose gets another hug before Jenny starts running towards door.]

I'll stop by tomorrow! See you then!

[with that, she leaves Rose's apartment, and heads back to her house.]
